Million Dollar Massage Newsletter

I hope you had a fabulous January! I recently went to North Carolina to visit my best friend who just had a baby. Shaelyn was 15 days old when I met her. I felt so blessed to witness this little miracle. My friend Linnea is also a massage therapist and one of her passions is teaching infant massage to new mothers. It was great to hear her stories and experiences with infant massage. It's a modality that I have great respect for but have never personally been drawn to.

My passion lies with helping massage therapists (YOU) thrive in your bodywork career. In this issue I'll share with you three Million Dollar Foot Massage tips including:

  • Why attending to the feet will make you a better therapist
  • Applying Thieves essential oil on the feet for whole body wellness
  • How to end the foot massage so your clients are in bliss

Be sure to check out the "Fabulous Foot Offer"that is listed below and also the"Blow Out Sale" on Breast Rest the Greatest Solution to Accommodate Your Female Clients.

Also, the winner of the 4oz bottle of Ortho Ease by Young Living Oils is, Kathy Barger of Ann Arbor, MI. Congratulations Kathy!

I wish you a prosperous February and would love to hear about your successes.

Be well,

Colleen Chausse, RN, LMT

Become A Better Therapist
Give Awesome Foot Massages
The following Million Dollar Massage tip is so precious and valuable you'll wonder why you haven't done it sooner. Here it is, are you ready?

Spend at least 10 - 15 minutes of the treatment massaging the feet.

There are a handful of people that absolutely don't want their feet touched. I have met people who don't want me to look at their feet and worse, they don't even want me to know that they have feet! It's true, there are folks who have an incredible foot phobia.

But, for all the others who are not squeamish about their feet, you must give them a fabulous foot massage. Our feet do so much for us from the minute we step out of bed until that moment we crawl back into bed. One of the most grounding feelings we enjoy is when someone touches our feet. Would you agree?

Yet so many therapists do a fluffy, light effleurage or just ignore the feet altogether. I had one therapist tell me that she only knew how to do a prone foot massage. I thought, "how sad, what a missed opportunity."

People melt like butter when they're receiving an awesome foot massage. It's relaxing both physically and mentally. Let's look at some of the therapeutic benefits your clients will enjoy:

  • they will relax much sooner just by having their feet massaged
  • as they sink into the table their muscles will soften
  • the memory of how wonderful & grounding it feels has them hooked on your work
  • they re-book over & over because they know they have found a little piece of heaven

The reason you will be a better therapist is:

  • less strain on your hands because you won't have to plow through tight, tense muscles
  • your massage routine will expand
  • you'll preserve your thumbs, wrists and hands
  • you'll gain satisfaction with your new style of working
  • your practice will grow as your clients tell all their friends about you

If you don't already include a quality foot massage in your treatments, experiment by devoting 10 or more minutes within every treatment. Then ask your customers if they noticed a difference. Their answer should be a resounding YES!

If you are unsure or rusty on how to give a supine & prone foot massage stay tuned because in February I am releasing my second video called, "The Million Dollar Foot Massage." The information in this video is so valuable and beneficial it will literally blow your socks off! I'm very excited about this project and will keep you posted as I get closer to the release date.

Use Thieves essential oil on the feet
Thieves essential oil is a proprietary blend from Young Living Oils. In addition to it's delicious aroma, it is highly antibacterial, antiviral, and antiseptic. The oils contained in Thieves are: Rosemary, Lemon, Eucalyptus, Clove & Cinnamon.

Because of the large pores on the soles of the feet, essential oils are absorbed into the body very quickly. In this season of winter ailments Thieves is the ally to have on hand.

I usually put about 4 drops into the palm of my hand, rub my hands together lightly then transfer the oils to my client's feet. The immune system building properties of Thieves will be in your client's and your system within 20 minutes. And for those clients who have less than optimal smelling feet, Thieves will definitely improve that.

If you are already a member of Young Living Oils and would like to purchase a 15 ml bottle, the order number is: 3423. If you would like more information on how to order Thieves, click on the link below or email me at: colleen@inspira-unlimited.com and I will walk you through the process.

This powerful oil combined with your skilled foot massage will have your clients feeling their absolute best! Remember, happy customers consistently re-book and refer.

Send Your Clients to Bliss-ville!
A Small But Mighty Massage Tip
foot w/solar plexus circle I want to share with you this delicious closing technique that I learned from Dwight Byers at the International Institute of Reflexology. If you are interested in learning the fabulous art of reflexology, I recommend his technique. Mr. Byers is the nephew of Eunice Ingham. Ms. Ingham was a remarkable pioneer back in the 1930's and pretty much put reflexology on the map. The Institute of Reflexology is world renowned and highly reputable.

OK, here's the technique:

  • complete the supine phase of the massage
  • place each of your thumb pads into the solar plexus region of each foot (refer to circle on picture)
  • ask your client to take in three long and slow deep breaths
  • as they inhale, press your thumbs into the solar plexus region and hold
  • as they exhale, maintain contact with your thumbs but release your pressure just a bit
  • on the third inhale ask your client to hold their breath, then slowly exhale
  • as they exhale the third time, slowly release your thumbs altogether

Remember to do this synergistically with your client's inhale and exhale. There is a subtle, rhythmic dance with this technique, and once you've mastered it, you'll have another Million Dollar Massage tip in your toolbox.

This awesome closing technique has profound physical, mental and spiritual benefits to your client. As they deep breathe, lung expansion occurs, circulation is improved and they'll sink deeper into relaxation. And during those brief moments of deliberate breathing, your client will drift into that place that few of us ever find...a place of total restoration and peace.

Every single time I do this technique I hear the sound of true contentment: "aaaahhhh". Have fun with this one, please let me know your results.
